How to Pray…

Why rejoice?

It’s important to acknowledge the Identity and Authority of the God to Whom we pray, and to acknowledge that ALL CHILDREN ARE A BLESSING FROM THE LORD.

By praising God as Creator of all, the Father God of humanity, and the Saviour of mankind through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach), we ensure that we have the ear of the One Triune God.

His Word, the Holy Bible, tells us that He is faithful to respond to the heart cries of His people when we approach Him with reverential awe and worship.

Why repent?

God tells us in His Word that repenting of our sins through the power of the sacrificial Blood of the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ) yields many benefits.  These benefits are experienced by the individual, their children and family line to the third or fourth generation, and even to an entire nation.  Repenting is a way of undoing the wrongs we have committed or caused, either through sins of commission (what we do wrong) or omission (the good we failed to do), in accordance with the standards set out for mankind in God’s Word, the Holy Bible.

The ‘gold standards’ of human behaviour are described in “The Ten Commandments” and in the other sacred covenants and teachings outlined in the Old Testament, as well as in the teachings and role model provided by Jesus Christ in the New Testament of God’s Word.  Jesus said that He did not come to do away with the Old Law (old teachings and commandments) but to fulfil them.  Therefore all of God’s Word needs to be taken seriously by those who believe in and serve the One Triune God of the Holy Bible; it is the ‘yardstick’ by which we can identify our own shortcomings or sins, according to God’s standards and original design and purpose for us, His children.

Why request?

When we have made our peace with God through our repentance by faith in Jesus Christ, then we are free to ask God for His Mercy: to lead, guide, help, counsel, protect and generally to bless us, our children and families, our communities and nations.  Admit that we can do nothing in our own strength; our children are at risk of harm in this world, much of which we ourselves can afford them only limited protection. Our children need Divine intervention from, and relationship with, their heavenly Father, just as much as we do! It is our job as parents and older generations to intercede for all children, asking Father God for His will and way to be done in their lives.

It is an amazing privilege and blessing to live as His children and ambassadors, and to raise up our own children according to the will of our Heavenly Father – so that whole generations forevermore enjoy a close, loving relationship with our Creator God. Let’s never take that privilege, and responsibility, for granted.
